']]}Velella, a saltwater predatory animal, native to coast of Ireland
Velella is a cosmopolitan genus of free-floating hydrozoans that live on the surface of the open ocean. Velella is commonly known by the names sea raft, by-the-wind sailor, purple sail, little sail, or simply Velella. Currently the only known and identified species is the Velella velella. These small cnidarians are part of a specialised ocean surface community which includes the better-known cnidarian siphonophore, the Portuguese Man o' War. Like other Cnidaria, Velella are carnivorous. They catch their prey, generally plankton, by means of tentacles that hang down in the water and bear cnidocysts (also called nematocysts). Though the toxins in their nematocysts are effective against their prey, Velella are harmless to humans, either because their nematocysts are unable to pierce our skin, or perhaps because humans do not react to the toxins encapsulated in their nematocysts. Nevertheless, it is wise to avoid touching one's face or eyes after handling Velella.

This suspension bridge, which is about 45-meters long and 2-meters wide, is made with woven vines that stretch across the valley 14 meters above the river below. Nowadays, the bridge is reinforced with steel cables, and so there is no need to worry about it falling; nevertheless, it is still a thrilling, jittery experience to walk across. Kazura Bashi over the canyon in this secluded mountain villages is also associated with the legend of fleeting Heike clan, once most powerful ruler. This bridge is made of Actinidia auguta (a kind of kiwi vine) and is 45 meters long, 2 meters wide. It weighs approx. 5 tones and is suspended 15 meters above streams. It was only access over the deep canyon into the mountainous area in those days. The bridge is changed every three years. This bridge is designated as a National and Prefectural significant folk cultural asset.
